Key Club affords high school students opportunities to serve, build character and develop skills by serving their schools and communities. Through Americans All’s unique, free web-based storytelling tool—the Heritage Honor Roll—students can help their families and community members preserve their legacy while enhancing important life skills and experiences. Our nonprofit foundation has a 34-year track record of supporting students and strengthening their education.

By helping others less skilled in the art of writing and the use of technology to incorporate text, images and recordings into their legacy stories, students will:

  • Learn the value of service and volunteerism;
  • Build character, as storytelling can be a wonderful intergenerational bonding experience that promotes kindness, compassion and understanding.
  • Develop research, writing and communication skills needed to participate in our nation’s democracy and economy; and
  • Come to appreciate the contributions of diverse ethnic and cultural groups as they record their stories;

Using our storytelling tool also benefits schools and communities in the form of revenue from program fees. Schools can also access electronically our high-quality history and civic resources to develop students’ citizenship, leadership and teamwork skills.

The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted increased attention and urgency to the tasks of legacy preservation and community healing in light of the tremendous loss of life it has caused and the egregious social and economic inequities it has revealed. Moreover, we must preserve stories of our first-responder heroes.

A partnership between Key Club and Americans All could reinforce our like missions and substantially benefit students, schools and communities. I look forward to discussing how we can work together.
